Icarus - 46
Icarus-46:- 14 m [46'] displacement power cat
One of the first of our high speed displacement power boats using the unique CS hull form developed in this office. In the years since its initial inception in 1983 this round bilge, low wetted surface, hull form has become the shape of choice for many designers of power Catamarans. This high prismatic hull form exhibits exceptional fuel economy [see graph in article comparing planing and displacement power cats] and the ease with which it moves through the water is clearly shown by the low slip figures routinely achieved [ usually in the order of 12 to 13% ]. This was the first of our power boats to use the same interior fitout strategy as was first employed in the motor sailer 'Cordova'. The galley was an off the shelf kitchen and similarly, the head was fitted with a household toilet, shower and vanity unit. See also article comparing displacement and planing power Catamarans.
